Project Objective
Word Collective Ministries sought to expand their reach and impact by offering structured biblical courses online. While their website was functional, it lacked a dedicated teaching portal, e-commerce functionality, and any form of learner tracking. The goal was to enhance the existing site with an integrated LMS that would allow users to purchase, access, and track their progress through a series of video-based lessons and quizzes, while also ensuring that only users who purchased the physical book could unlock the course content.
Approach
We began by auditing the existing Word Collective Ministries website to identify how best to extend its capabilities without starting from scratch.
Website Enhancements:
We created a dedicated “Teachings” page that integrates YouTube videos directly on the site, giving visitors easy access to sermons and resources.
LMS Implementation:
The cornerstone of this project was the development of a customized LMS using Tutor LMS. This plugin was chosen for its robust set of features including:
- Structured course modules and lessons
- Embedded video support
- Built-in quizzes and progress tracking
- Learner dashboards for tracking course completion
WooCommerce Integration:
To ensure that only those who purchased the ministry’s physical book could access the online courses, we configured WooCommerce to handle course purchases. While no online payment gateway was used, we set up an EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) system, allowing clients to place orders and receive instructions for manual payment.
A custom flow was configured where access to the LMS was only granted after administrative confirmation of the EFT and book purchase, helping to maintain course exclusivity and control.
